Ledge Lighthouse and the "Worm Moon"
JF #312
The worm moon of March 2011 was the closest approach of the moon to the earth in more than twenty years. I wanted to capture this event with a suitable local foreground and found that Ledge Lighthouse would align nicely from a vantage point on Ocean Beach. Surprise of surprises when the moon arose on schedule and enabled this image before it ducked from view behind a cloud bank.
