B ird photography is one of the most demanding of equipment and technique especially when the subject is birds in flight. Birds are often small, wary and moving fast. While I really believe that equipment does not make the photographer, when it comes to bird photography it sure gives you an edge. Most of my bird photography has been done in Florida and Connecticut. I use a 600mm f/4 Canon lens often with a 1.4X extender and a Canon 1DMarkIII camera all mounted on a Wimberly head. I find the Wimberly head an indispensable tool particularly for birds in flight. When people see me photographing birds they often assume I can identify them. In many cases I can, but I can't guarantee I have correctly identified those seen on my site. Please let me know if you take exception to any identification.
